Tired of your rooftop AC thermostat? Or is the control board outdated or hard to find?
I recently tested a universal AC control board sold on Amazon sold by HVAC Yellow Hat. The product is decent quality and could use some improvements but it works. My rooftop was a Carrier Air V unit, however the control board was hard to find, used and expensive. Additionally, no thermostat wire was existing so that presented another challenge.
This board has very little instructions, but it has a schematic. Using the wiring diagram of this new board and the wiring diagram from the rooftop unit, I was able to wire the new board and now works with my rooftop ac. No running thermostat wire needed, and for under $30 this was a bargain.
I rate this board 3/5 stars. Time will tell if this will continue working. The heatpump feature works but needs a 2 option relay NO & NC relay to truly be universal. That said another $6 relay will need to be installed to make the heatpump work. Also I still have not figured out how to change from C to F on the controller.
